Historical Entry- The molo audace!

The wharf Audace is a very significative place for Trieste. The wharf Audace takes it's name from the name of the leader of the first that approached in Trieste in November the third 1918. It is in front of Piazza Unità. Piazza Unità was once the center of Trieste because in 1918 it was the easiest place to reach for every merchant. Still today Piazza Unità is the center of the city and so the wharf is still very important. Every young person that comes in Trieste hos to know that the wharf Audace has a hidden leggend. Here we say that all the lovers that go on the wharf Audace will have good luck in their future story if they are really in love with each over and they will have a lot of good luck. People go there to admire the sea and look at the rosa dei quattroventi, which tells you from which directions the winds come from and what are their names. If you take some time and remain there for a while you can see many painters or photographers, because on the wharf Audace there is an extraordinary view, especially in the evening when the sun is disappearing. The sean gently crushes on the borders of the wharf creating a peaceful sound and a small but restless sea breeze, cuddles you making the wharf and extremely romantic wharf for lovers and intraprendent artists.

Synopsis 10- The Sirens of Surrentum by Caroline Lawence

The Sirens of Surrentum takes place in Villa Limona. In this book Flavia has to discover who is trying to poison Polla Argentaria. She is beautiful woman who is engaged with Felix, they have three daughters, Pulchra, Pollina and Pollinilla. Flavia is betrothed with Traquillus but she doesn't like him because he is arrogant and Flacus a handsome and rich sailor is in love with Flavia but she doesn't notice it until after his departure. Felix is a very handsome and beatiful man and half of Rome is in love with him. He likes to have a lot of girls and so Flavia, Jonothan, Nubia, Lupus and Pulchra think the poisener must be one of his lovers. So they investigate on all the women Felix had but on all the occasions the presumpted poisoners could poison Polla Argentaria nobody of men did. So one night Flavia thinks of a trap to figure out who the poisener was. They make out a scene in which Jonathan and Pulchra say that they have found a really poisonous potion and that they would have it behind Venesus stattue. Lupus discovered first that the poisener that was trying to poisn Polla Argentina was herself, sick and tired of being forgotten be Felix.

Geography - Golf Club Trieste

The golf club Trieste was the first golf built in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It was first built in 1954, the course was designed by the Americans and the English after the Second World War. In 2005 the golf club celebrated it's 50th anniversary, a long tradition that wasn't only a strong point but was also a stimulation to make the city better, giving people the possibility to play also here. The club house, which was redesined at the end of the seventy's with clear Tudor style, also has changing rooms both for members and for guests, a secretary, a t.v. room, couches and a bar- restaurant of very high level and low cost. Also for the golfers there is a driving range which has ten covered spaces to practice, a pitching green and a putting green. The golf course is for players of all levels.The wonderful location Trieste has enables the player's to see the sea and the Carso, a wonderful habitat to relax and joyfully play breathing fresh air! An advantage in the golf club Trieste is that there is always a bit of wind so also in the hottest day it's cool enough to play!

Synopsis 9- Mates, Dates and Mad Mistakes- Cathy Hopkins

This novel was written by Cathy Hopkins and it talks about four girls which aere best friends. Lucy, Iz, Nesta and Tj are four fourteen years old girls which are heading for grade 10 and this is probably their last night all together because next year Nesta and Lucy are changing school and they wont see each other really often! They are really sad because they have been mates since they had three months and so Iz and Lucy want them to remain in contact and they suggest weach of them could have a piercing with each other's birth stone so they could remember each other. Nesta and Tj don't weant to do it because they are not so comfortable with pain and Nesta faints when she see's blood. Lucy's parents are ok with the stud but Iz' s mother is furious and she has to take it off, so she goes to buy another one and she meet's Josh, Biker boy, a seventeen year old boy which apparently is very cute but it turns out that he is very dangerous and will put Iz in a lot of troubles also if her friends try to alert her.

Social Studies Entry-Hitler

Everybody knows that Hitler as the one who persecuted the Jews, the one who wanted to impose his rules to the enitere world. For sure his was crazy but he had a great personality carisma and for this two qualities he convinced millions of people that he was doing the right thing. He used propaganda, to diffuse his ideas but you will propbably think why did everyone listen to his propaganda? Hitler was also a genius in a certain sense, he gived modified radios so people would listen only to what he said. He gave also many gifts to German people so he corrupted them., and eliminated everything that interfered with his great plan of conquist. His main obstacle to conquist the world were the Jews, Hitler thought they were too strong and a bit at the time he began to probate them to go to school, go on buses and other thing like that and then he began to eliminate them one by one in concentration camps and not many survived. This is why Hilter was, and still is, considered a really crazy person.

Italian Entry- Giacomo Leopardi

In Italian for antologia we are studying Giacomo Leopardi and other important authors and poets of that times. It was during the 1800's that poets like Giacomo Leopardi and other poets became famous. My favorite poet is obviously Giacomo Leopardi. He was a genius, he learned Latin, and Greek by himself, he wrote beautiful poems and everybody liked him a lot and admired him. Giacomo Leopardi came from a very rich family, unfortunately he had a very bad health and he couldn't go out of his house because he would probably get very ill and die. Leopardi loved nature and he loved also a girl named Silvia. She lived next door but when Leopardi goes to Florence she dies and he begins to think that nature isn't so good after all. He likes to travel and visits Milano, Bologna and Florence but he didn't make a lot of money and because of his health problems he always returned to Recanati were he had his parents to attend him. He died in 1837 in Recanati.

Science Entry- Magnets!

In the second quarter we studied magnets & electricity. Next Monday which is the 29th of January we will have to present our projects and Sofia, Elena and I are doing it on magnets. We have to make a film based on Bill Nye the Science Guy!! Elena is Bill Nye. Sofia took Elena's picture and with the computer she made various effects. Elena and I never worked together because when I was free she had something else to do! Sofia made most of the work because the computer was at her house, she did the effects on Elena's photo and all the effects our video has. I didn't participate a lot in the project because I am never available during the weekends! Elena and Sofia did an excellent project and I am a bit sad because most of it is there's. We made a really silly commercial there is Elena which says "pubblicità" but she hold the "a" and it's really funny!! I enjoyed doing the project also if I didn't understand a lot about magnets!!

Synopsis 8 How I Live Now- Meg Rosoff.

How I live Now talks about a girl that lives in New York city and her mother is dead. His father never talks about her, mostly for the fact that now he has a girlfriend and she is pregnant. She hates both his father and his girlfriend. She goes to London to her cousin's house. Aunt Penn had to come to get here at the airport but instead Edmond came. He is a small kid and he is twelve years old, she got very scandalized becuase Edmond was smoking but, because she was very timid she never asked for explanations. Aunt Penn is very nice to her and they have a lot of fun together, they all go to tha lake, they paly with the dogs and swim all day. Then one day Aunt Penn has to go away and then some bombs explode in the center of London, and the troubles start...

Arts Block Entry- A Mid Summer Night Dream.

I am Titania the queen of the fairy world, Oberon is my my husband and he wants Thesus, Titania promised to Thesus' mom, a mortal friend of Titania that when she gave birth to Thesus she died that she would take care of him. Oberon puts a special potion in Titania's eyes and when she wakes up she sees Bottom who his face was transformed in a donkey. Titania fells in love with his sweet voice and tells Mustardseed, Moth, Peablossom and Cobweb to do whatever Bottom desires. Bottom instead wants to return home but Titania wont let him go. She is under a powerful love poison and Oberon laughs at the joke he made to Titania. So when she will wake up again she will return to be in love with Oberon and will give him everything he wants. Titania likes Bottom's years and everything about him like his voice. At last Titania returns to see with her normal eyes and sees Oberon and tells him she had a horrible dream, she dreamed that she was in love with a donkey and Oberon laughs and they exit together.

Synopsis 7 The Enemies of Jupiter- Caroline Lawrence

The Enemies of Jupiter is Caroline Lawrence's seventh book! These series talks about four children, aged thirteen, who like to solve mysteries, these series takes place in ancient Rome. The four protagonists are: Flavia, Jonathan, Nubia and Lupus. Lupus is small and very bright and because of this his tongue was cut off. Jonathan is a Jewish boy and he would like to get back together his mother and his father. Flavia is a Roman girl and Nubia is here ex slave, Flavia liked Nubia so she freed her. The Emperor is informed that Mordecai was a good doctor and tells him to come to Rome because he wants him to cure the pestilence, for a lack of coincidence also Jonathan's mother lives in Rome and is the Emperor's slave. At last Mordecai and Susannah meet and they re-find love but the Emperor was also in love with Susannah...150

Surf Holidays by Mary-Kate and Ashley.

Mary-Kate and Ashley are sixteen years old they are twin sisters and are really cute. Both have the boyfriend and they are really sad because Mary-Kate and Ashley have to go away for Christmas vacations because it is almost Christmas and Mary-kate and Ashley should go to Vail because they live in California and they wanted to pass a white Christmas. Instead their aunt who lives in Montana gets sick and she has nobody to stay with and her only relative is Macy, Mary-kate and Ashley's mother. So Macy has to go in Montana and the girls go to their father, Jake, who lives in a trailer near the beach. Mary-kate and Ashley transform his house in a Christmas house putting lights and a Christmas tree. They organize a really big party for all her friends and they pass the most wonderful Christmas in their hole life, in California with their boyfriends.

Romeo and Juliet- Shakespeare

Juliet and the Nurse.

Juliet is fourteen years old. One day at the Capulet's party she meets Romeo, a lovely Montague. The Montagues were the worst enemies of the Capulet. They fall imediately in love and they want to marry. The Nurse knows Juliet better then anybody else, this is because Juliet and the mother didn't have many contacts togethere, if there was something that they wanted to tell each other they sent the Nurse to speak for them. The Nurse also is the messanger between Juliet and Romeo. Their love was secret because if someone discovered that they love each other they would probably be killed, the Nurse didn't really care if they wanted to marry because she wanted Juliet to be happy. The Nurse was like Juliet's mother and Juliet admired and respected the Nurse. Romeo gets banished because he kills Tybalt.Juliet is very sad because she will never meet Romeo again, her parents think she is sad because Tybalt died so they decide to make her marry Paris. The Nurse says she should marry Paris but Juliet doesn't want to and so she gets a sleeping poison. Romeo find her and kills himself to. The Juliet wakes up and kills herself.

The Diary of Bridget Jones. Sharon Maguire

Bridget Jones is a young lady who works for the New York Times. She used to live in Philadelphia with all her family and wrote for the local news paper. One day she wrote and extremely gorgeous poem and her friend without telling her send it to the New York Times. They post the poem and they go to Philadelphia to see if she wrote other good pieces. They decide to admitt her to write for the New York Times and she at first doesn't want to go but at last she goes. The first day she is very nervous because she doesn't know how it will be. Where she worked before everybody knew her and she knew what they thought about her. Bridget isn't very tall and she is a bit fat but she has a great personality, she is timid with new person but she is very simpathetic to people she knows very well. 158

Jessica Wakefield is a beautiful sixteen years old girl and goes to Sweet Valley High. She is a cheerleader and every guy would like to date her. She has a twin, Elizabeth who always has her nose in a book. Jessica's best friend is Lila fowler, she is really rich. Instead Elizabeth's best friend is Enid Rollins. They live in Sweet Valley Bay, there is always good weather and usually Jessica and Lila after school or meanwhile they go to the beach. Jessica is really into boys also of other girls. Jessica likes really much her parents, her mother is an ex model and her father is a buisness man. One day Jessica and Lila go shopping, Jessica founds a really neat scarf but she can not afford to buy it so Lila convinces her to steel it.They get caught and they are both punished!From that day troubles begin in Jessica's life. 159

Holes by Louis Sachar talks about Stanley Yelnats who is a really fat boy who lives in America. His father was trying to make the gym shoes not smell any more. One day a pair of shoes "fells from the sky" and they fall on his head and Stanley brings them home. He thought it was a really good fact and maybe for once luckyness wanted to award him. The day after the police got him and they sent him to Camp Green Lake. Stanley was actually happy to go there because, being poor, he never had a chance to go on Campus. He arrived there and it wasn't like he hoped. There were only guys and they didn't look very sympathetic. Once they were finished, also if it was really difficult, they could go back to the loudge. They said that digging holes was to built the character but really the owner wanted to find a treasure. 159

A Series of Unfortunate Events- Lemony Snickett.

A series of Unfortunate Events is about three kids who lose their parents when they were in vacation because their house burns. They were one of the most rich families in the world and they lived in a house that was as luxurios as a palace. The three children were really special. Violet was really intelligent and had extremely good ideas. Claus had a photo memory and he was a good reader if he read something once he rememberd everything that was written about it. Sunny was the smallest kid of the three she was only three years old and her ability was to bite everything she went pass her. They get assigned to Count Olaf who wants to steal the Boudler's fortune. Fortunately Violet understands what Count Olaf wants and she tells it to their manager but he doesn't believe her, so Count Olaf continues to perseguitate the three kids. 154

White Lies and Barefaced Truths talks about two girls and two boys.The girls names are : Cat, the protagonist and Becca her best friend. The two boys names are : Squidge, Cat's life time boyfriend, and Mac, a new boy. Thay live in the village called Cawsand, one night they played truth or dare and Becca confesses that she is in love with Ollie Oxford the cutest boy in London, he is 18. The problems are two also Cat is in love with Ollie but she is already dating Squidge. One day she goes to the beach and she meets Ollie they talk for a while and they end up kissing. And there the problems began. Somedays after Lia, Ollie's sister, went to Cat's and Becca's school and became one of her best friends and from then Cat begins to tell alot of lies to everybody and is in difficulty.
